International Women’s Day is celebrated on 8th March, commemorating women’s fight for equality and liberation along with the women’s rights movement. International Women’s Day gives focus to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence and abuse against women. Spurred by the universal female suffrage movement, International Women’s Day originated from labor movements in Europe and North America during the early 20th century. Vladimir Lenin declared 8 March as International Women’s Day in 1922 to honour the women’s role in the 1917 Revolution, since then all over the world Women’s Day is celebrated on 8th March The International Women’s Day 2026 theme is “Give To Gain,” highlighting a mindset of generosity, collaboration, and investment to accelerate gender equality. This theme emphasizes that supporting women—through resources, rights, and visibility—creates widespread economic and social benefits Mahila Vibhag of Bunts Sangha Bangalore, celebrated Women’s Day on 9th March-2026 . The program started with prayer from , Ms.Pramitha Shetty, Ms.Prema Shetty and Ms.Vismitha Shetty Ms.Yogya Rai Chairperson welcomed the chief Guests and dignitaries. Ther program started with Lighting of Lamp by the dignitaries followed by Bunta Geetha by The Executive Members of Mahila Vibhag. The Office Bearers ofBunt Sangha Bangalore, Mr.Ashok Shetty, President, Mr.Vija Shetty Haladi, Secretary, Ms.Kanthi Shetty Lady Vice President, Ms.Jayshree C Rai, Joint Secretary, and Ms.Yogya Rai, Chairperson Mahila Vibhag were on Dias. The group headed by Dr.Nagesh Presented Janapadha Geethe The songs were melodious, authentic, and culturally rich, providing a nostalgic connection to rural life. The performances, featuring traditional instruments and singing, draw huge applause from audiences. It was a treat to watch our Bunt ladies “Dancing away to Glory”. On this occasion a Cooking competition “Cook without Fire” was arranged, more than fifteen teams participated in this competition. Ms. Mala Bhaskar Shetty was the Master of Ceremony. Ms.Mallika K Shetty , Convenor of Mahila Vibhag delivered the Vote of Thanks.
